Landscape and square photos lose edges in Status. Start vertical on purpose.
WhatsApp Status is a full-screen 9:16 viewer. When you drop a landscape holiday photo, the app chooses a centre crop — you do not. Faces on the edge vanish without warning.
Shoot or crop with vertical intent
Place the subject in the middle third of a 1080×1920 canvas. Leave breathing room top and bottom for UI chrome and caption stickers.
Resize before upload, not after regret
On FilezyAI open Resize JPG, set width 1080 and height 1920 with aspect lock if your source is already vertical. For horizontal sources, decide deliberately what to cut — do not let the app decide.
On slow mobile networks, enable compress after resize so the Status upload finishes before you leave the screen.
