Rename any supported file before download
Drop any file in, type the name you want, and download it renamed. You can convert, compress and resize in the same pass too.
This page accepts images, PDFs, and Office documents when you only need a new filename. Format and compression may already be correct; the portal or client simply expects photo.jpg instead of IMG_2048.heic.
Renaming the extension without converting contents fails automated validators. Enable convert on the same pass when the format must change too.
When renaming alone is enough
- Portal expects document.pdf but your export is document (1).pdf
- Batch receipts need invoice-001.pdf through invoice-040.pdf
- Removing spaces from filenames before email (Client Proposal Final.pdf)
When to add convert or compress in the same pass
If the portal rejected the file after rename, read the error: invalid format means enable convert; file too large means enable compress with the KB max; invalid dimensions means enable resize.
- HEIC from iPhone must become JPG before rename to photo.jpg
- Scanned PDF over 500 KB needs compress before upload
- 4000 px camera photo needs resize for a 600×600 slot
Batch rename patterns
Serial patterns help when a form asks for multiple attachments with ordered names. Upload the batch once with a shared prefix or incrementing number.
Government PDFs often show a table of required filenames. Copy each string exactly — including .pdf vs .PDF — before you upload.
Supported formats for rename-only
Use this page when bytes and format are already correct. If the portal rejected the file, read the error message: wrong type needs convert; too large needs compress; wrong pixels needs resize.
| Category | Extensions | Rename-only OK? |
|---|---|---|
| Photos | JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, HEIC | Yes if format already correct |
| Documents | Yes — common for portal exact names | |
| Office | DOCX, XLSX, PPTX | Yes — keep extension matching contents |
| Vector | SVG | Yes — brand asset handoffs |
Common rename mistakes
- Changing photo.jpg to photo.png without converting (validator reads file header, not extension)
- Spaces in filenames on older HR systems (use hyphens)
- Uploading the same name twice in one batch (use serial numbers)
Filename rules recruiters and portals repeat
Indian government and exam sites often publish exact strings: photo.jpg, signature.jpg, id_proof.pdf. US job boards may accept resume.pdf but reject Resume.PDF on case-sensitive validators. When in doubt, lowercase extensions and ASCII characters only.
If you are renaming before WhatsApp or email, shorter names with hyphens travel better than long camera defaults with spaces.
Why FilezyAI runs multiple steps together
Most free converters handle one job per visit: format change, or a vague quality slider, or a crop tool on another tab. Portals rarely ask for just one of those — they publish a checklist (JPG, under 200 KB, 600×600 px, named photo.jpg). FilezyAI applies every toggle you enable in a single server job.
Uploads are removed automatically two hours later. No account is required on the free tier. Pro removes ads and raises file-size limits.
- Set min/max KB instead of guessing compression percentage
- Chain convert, compress, resize, rename, and metadata removal before one download
- Twelve input formats including HEIC, PDF, and Office documents
- AI mode when you prefer plain-English instructions over manual toggles
How to use this tool
- Upload your file(s).
- Enter rename pattern (prefix, suffix, or serial).
- Add convert or compress if the portal spec requires them.
- Apply and download.
- Confirm each filename before submitting.
